Comprehensive eye examinations are important in determining if you need vision correction and in maintaining the health of your eye.
Although some eye diseases have obvious symptoms such as red eye, light sensitivity, and vision issues, many serious eye diseases commonly do not have any warning signs. For example, glaucoma will present no symptoms until vision loss is experienced and optic damage occurs. Proper eye care and evaluations can help prevent vision loss. Comprehensive eye exams can also detect diabetes, hypertension, retinal holes or tears, and other important treatable medical conditions.
At Hawaii Eye Institute, Dr. Schmidt and his team will perform a series of comprehensive eye tests to determine your visual acuity and check for eye disease. Common tests that you might have include:
